If you live in Los Angeles, you'll get a real treat if you decide to catch a showing of the movie at the world famousEl Capitan Theatre. Disney is running special4Dshowings ofNightmare Before Christmasfor a limited time later this month. What does 4D involve? In classic Disney fashion, they'll have"special effects in the theater itself, such as wind and fog"(viaHero Complex). This is the first time these"4D Sensory Effects"will be used for a film at the El Capitan.
Sure, it's a little gimmicky, a bit cheesy, but it reminds me of theWilliam Castlein-theater gimmicks that we don't ever see anymore. Plus, this is Disney, they're masters of integrating effects into their events, that's essentially exactly what Disneyland is all about. I don't know how much more there will be besides just some wind and fog, but this should be a great experience for any big fans ofNightmare Before Christmas. Plus, if you want a truly all-encompassing experience, you can also participate in thePumpkin King Dinnersome of the nights, too. I know this"4D"is probably even more gimmicky than the 3D itself, but I love this stuff and coming from Disney, I expect it to be a fantastic experience. You can buy tickets on theEl Capitan website.
