WB& Akiva Goldsman Snag High Concept Drama 'Dark Moon'« FirstShowing.net

Dark Moon

As Michael Bay sets his sights on our lunar satellite with the blockbuster sequelTransformers: The Dark of the Moon, Warner Bros. andAkiva Goldsman'sWeed Road production banner have picked up a different moon-centric story withDark Moon. The spec script drama from writer/directorOlatunde Osunsanmi(The Fourth Kind) focuses on the concept that manned moon missions did not stop with Apollo 17 in 1972. Taking a"found footage"route, the film reveals a black ops post-Apollo mission sent to the moon to explore previously classified discoveries and its unintended and disturbing consequences. Sounds pretty kick-ass.

Though the found-footage concept ha kinda started to lose its edge, the concept itself is certainly an intriguing one. Osunsanmi did some interesting work by mixing real events with fiction forThe Fourth Kindeven if the movie didn't exactly hit the mark, so it's got some potential. There's plenty of great conspiracy theories to be fueled by the film, and outer space, even as nearby as our moon, still holds many mysteries. For now though, it's unclear whetherDark Moonwill be Osunsanmi's next directing gig since he's also attached to helmThe Commuterfor Gold Circle films. We'll keep you posted as this project develops.Interested?
