Big surprise here (I'm kidding). Although production was supposed to start by the end of this year on George Miller'sMad Max: Fury Roadstarring Tom Hardy as the new Mad Max, production has been delayed, for a very long time. The Australianreports on the delay, adding that most of the crew who were about to work for a few months have been left"in the dust."Here's the worst part:"Production is now anticipated to begin in the Broken Hill region in February2012."Wow, so this is not delayed for just a few months, but formorethan a year - and that's only for the shoot, meaning we probably won't get to see the film untilat least2013.
I'm honestly not too surprised by this news for a few reasons. First, production has already been delayed. AsThe Australianexplains:"In July, Kennedy Miller Productions said unseasonal rains had made the Broken Hill area too fertile and production was put back to later this year."Secondly, George Miller has been trying to get this made for years and it is just one of those projects that's always going to be troubled. For now, it sounds like we'll just be waiting to hear anything, but it looks like Tom Hardy won't be playing Mad Max for quite a while, despitesounding quite excited in Julywhen we talked to him about it. We'll definitely let you know if we hear anything new and we'll be back again in 2012 with, hopefully, good news aboutMad Max 4.
